Most matches are played on either a Saturday or Sunday afternoon with overflow matches scheduled during weeknights beginning at 6:00 pm.
How many matches per week and season will we play?
Teams will compete once a week with one opposing team from your division. Each team will field (3) courts for the weekly matchup against the opposing teams consisting of A, B and C players placed by “Order of Strength” either 1 or 3 (review the local rules found on lowcountry.tenniscores.com, Rules). Each court will play best 3 out of 5 games to 11, win by 2. If a match goes to a 5th game, play is to 11, win by 1 (sudden victory). Each season will play for a minimum of 6 weeks (dependent upon the number of teams per division).
Does the league use a player rating system?
Yes, the league recognizes the DUPR Player Rating System, DUPR uses individual player ratings to calculate a team rating—the average of each player’s DUPR. This is then used to determine the win probability for each team.
Underdog Wins/Big Gains. If your team wins against the odds, your rating increases more.
Expected Wins/Steady Growth. Winning as the favorite means smaller gains.
Each player’s rating adjustment depends on the number of matches they’ve played and how recent those matches are. Play regularly to keep your rating dynamic and reflective of your current skill!
What if I don’t have a rating, how do I know what level I should play?
Each team’s captain shall set their respective players in accordance with their DUPR Player Rating. If a player’s DUPR rating is NR (Not Rated), they will “Self-Rate” on their Profile on Pickleball.com to the division in which they are participating. After approximately 10 league games entered in DUPR via Match scores entered in Pickleball.com You will develop a DUPR Player Rating. Should further clarification be required, contact the league Commissioner for clarification at lcpbleague@gmail.com.
