Commencing with the 2027 Mixed Doubles season, the league will implement the following updates:

• Age Brackets: To ensure fair and competitive play, all participating divisions will now offer two age brackets: 50–64 and 65+.
• Registration Fees: The registration fee will be adjusted to $30.00 per rostered player to account for increased operational expenses.
• Leadership Opportunity: The league is currently seeking an Assistant Commissioner. Interested parties should email Brian Fenlon at lcpbleague@gmail.com for further details.

The League has adopted the following Weather Safety Guidlines effective with the 2026 Women’s season. The league has recognized the NOAA Heat Index as the official advisory.

Thunder/Lightning: Stop play immediately and seek shelter. Wait 30 minutes before resuming; if storms continue, vacate the courts and notify the Commissioner. Suspended matches resume where they stopped. Lightning detection devices take precedence where available.

Heat Index:

• Extreme Caution Zone: Matches may be rescheduled. If play continues, timeouts and game intervals may be extended to 5 minutes for rest and hydration. Brief hydration breaks of up to 15 seconds are permitted if they do not disrupt play.

• Danger Zone: Matches must be rescheduled. Captains and players who choose to play during a Danger Heat Index assume all liability.

Since the league has adopted the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) as its official player rating system. Divisional placement will be based on each team’s cumulative DUPR once players reach a 50% reliability threshold (reduced from 60%).

Updated by-laws reflect this change, along with revisions to the 4.0 division.

Captains now have increased flexibility in assigning Order of Strength (OoS) based on players’ DUPR ratings.  Discretion may be used for players below 50% reliability; once reached, OoS must follow league guidelines.

Until the 50% threshold is met, divisions will be based on prior season results, provided at least 70% of the roster returns.

Players whose ratings exceed their division may continue to play below level until they reach 50% reliability.  If both rating and reliability exceed the division during the season, they may remain on the team but will be restricted to Court 1.

These updates are designed to streamline placement while maintaining fair and consistent roster management.

Captains are expected to adhere to the Captain’s Code of Conduct when assigning OoS and ensure players are appropriately rostered prior to reaching the 50% reliability threshold.

Due to the many match re-schedules and split courts we have experienced over the past few seasons, the league’s minimum roster size has been updated to 12 rostered players.

The Lowcountry Pickleball Leagues is now recognizing DUPR as our official Player Rating system. All league members are required to create a DUPR Membership and have a DUPR ID in and join the leagues Club in DUPR Clubs in order to participate in league play.
